WEBVTT

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:05.680
We are a young sort of city. We are growing,
and that sense of place, in some areas, is quite easy to identify.

00:00:05.680 --> 00:00:10.640
In some areas it is not,
but North Perth is one of the good ones.

00:00:10.640 --> 00:00:14.800
When there are a lot of sort of elements
happening at the same time,

00:00:14.800 --> 00:00:18.240
and you look at the coffee shops
and the sort of textures on the old buildings,

00:00:18.240 --> 00:00:22.080
some of the Italian buildings and the Italian sort of homes,
we are not mimicking any of the old architecture

00:00:22.080 --> 00:00:26.640
that you find in North Perth. We are just looking at it,
understanding it creates a link between the past

00:00:26.640 --> 00:00:31.120
and what the future could look like. I believe that this project
is very successful in doing that.

00:00:31.120 --> 00:00:36.720
Where I come from, you know everyone on your street.
You will be able to sit on your ground floor,

00:00:36.720 --> 00:00:39.840
look at your neighbour walking past,
coming from the convenience store

00:00:39.840 --> 00:00:44.000
with your glass of milk and your bread,
and you will be able to say hello.

00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:46.240
This project is going to create that sort of level
of relationship between the neighbours.
